Just a short drive from Threshing Barn Lowther Castle is one of the most exciting attractions in Cumbria. Magical for kids, prepare for your imagination to run wild with the particularly special ‘lost castle’ to explore and acres of beautiful gardens to enjoy. Pack a picnic and have a ball.
Open all year round, Walby Farm Park is the perfect place for your little ones to let off some steam without too much worry. With so much to do including meeting and interacting with farmyard favourites, a huge indoor Play Barn, trampolines, tractor tower, go karts and a 24-foot Demon Drop Slide, its brilliant for both kids and grown ups. An idyllic family day out.
Nestled in 165 acres of gorgeous country parkland, a visit to Talkin Tarn offers a wonderful opportunity to see wildlife in its natural habitat including the blue damselfly, otter, badger, fox and roe deer. With a lovely stroll paths around the Tarn and a variety of trails through the woods and fields it’s accessible to all.
Unique and monumental with world-class archaeology, Hadrian’s Wall is a must visit for you and your little historians. Visit Birdoswald Roman Fort to see the longest continuous remaining stretch of the renowned World Heritage Site and make a stop at Tullie House to see the permanent exhibition of Roman artefacts too.
