It’s an eggstravaganza with our top three family-friendly Easter activities in Cumbria…

Cumbria and the Lakes are spectacular for enjoying Spring (see our previous blog post for reasons to visit Cumbria in the Spring!) and there are a whole host of Easter events and activities going on that will keep the kids entertained - we’ve picked out our favourite three below…

Dragons & Chocolate…

For an Easter egg hunt with a fantastical twist, head to Lowther Castle where dragons have been laying their eggs throughout the gardens. Kids can hunt down the eggs for chocolatey rewards, before going on a quest to find the Lost Castle (the fabulous adventure playground). Not to be missed is the special Easter installation in the Courtyard and the swathes of daffodils in the grounds. Dragons & Chocolate runs from the 24th of March to the 15th of April.

A Chinese Easter theme…

If dragons have got you in the mood for Easter events with a difference, Tullie House Gallery and Museum in Carlisle has a host of Easter activities that have been inspired by Chinese culture, as an accompaniment to their exhibition of Chinese art and history.  Little ones can get involved in sessions ranging from making Chinese Dragon sock puppets to learning how to create Chinese willow patterns - a good option if the April showers come out in force!

A Teddy Bear’s Picnic

Muncaster Castle is hosting an Easter weekend full of teddies. The Castle will be taken over inside and out by cuddly bears and there will be trails and treasure hunts galore - not to mention the Giant Easter Egg Hunt! Plus, any child who brings a teddy bear friend along goes free.
