A little round-up of great events taking place this Summer in Cumbria…

Cumbria is a brilliant place to visit at any time of the year, whether you’re coming for walking in the Lake District, cycling along Hadrian's Wall or to completely relax and spend your days simply lazing around the Threshing Barn!  If you’re joining us this Summer you’ll be spoilt for choice as to what to do as there are some lovely events taking place nearby, including the following….

Carlisle’s Foodies Fest
21st – 23rd July, Carlisle city centre
A celebration of all that's great about Cumbrian Food and Drink, featuring a mix of local producers and traders as well as a host of international gastronomic delights and cookery demos by renowned chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
 

Summer Shenanigans at Walby Farm Park
21st July – 3rd September
Walby is putting on a whole host of events this Summer in addition to its usual fabulous offering for families.   It’s a brilliant place for a day out, incredibly family friendly, with 30 acres of grounds in which kids can let off steam, a huge indoor play area, tractor tower, barn with farmyard favourites and rare breeds, trampolines, go karts and a great café too.  Brilliant for our guests with little ones.
 

How to be a Roman soldier at Birdoswold Roman Fort
22nd July – 3rd September
Have you got what it takes to be a Roman soldier? Join a Roman soldier and enroll in his army this summer in the grounds of this ancient Roman Fort. Little soldiers can take part in a variety of hands on activities from games to drills.  Hear stories about life as a soldier and citizen, try on costumes, and handle Roman weapons and objects.
 

Lowther Show
12th – 13th August at Lowther Castle
Just a 30 minute drive from the Threshing Barn, Lowther Castle is a delightful place for a day out all year round but this show provides a particularly special opportunity to visit. Lowther Show is a country fair of the sporting kind. Horses, dogs, field sports, food and much more, in the glorious setting of Lowther Park.
 

Carlisle Fringe Festival
18th – 28th August
Returning for a second year, Carlisle Fringe Festival is an urban platform for outdoor performance and street theatre.  The three-day event will include street theatre for all ages and include artists from throughout the UK.
