Exquisite accommodation near Carlisle in the Cumbrian countryside…
Our beautiful 18th Century Threshing Barn provides accommodation for up to eight guests and you enjoy exclusive use of the whole place with the level of service you choose - from Self Catering, to Simply B&B, to our Complete Service with personal chef.
With 20 acres of private grounds, you can enjoy life’s simple pleasures here along with our little luxuries… Pick peapods in our kitchen garden, kick off your wellies and relax in front of the fire, have a luxurious soak in a deep tub, find restful sleep in a dreamy bed.
An ultra-luxurious four-bedroom barn conversion, it would once have been let as a self-catering cottage, but the owners, Mark and Anna Aston, have taken the concept further, offering a fully stocked wine fridge, Hungarian goose-down quilts, Bath House toiletries and a chef who will cook anything from a full English to a gourmet barbecue to a three-course dinner. If you like, you can have your own professional chef to provide everything from lavish breakfasts to elegant fine dining dinners, depending on the level of service you desire. Or as a more relaxed option we can prepare wholesome Simple Suppers for you, ready to simply warm through in the oven. The kitchen garden supplies our vegetables and herbs and our developing orchard contributes apples, pears and plums, many with centuries-old local connections…We love for kids to get involved and pick their own.

We’ve kept the character of our barn – beams, stone, iron-work, but our comforts are contemporary. A vast living space, a chef’s kitchen, four luxurious bedrooms with Hungarian goose down duvets, designer fabrics and Cumbrian toiletries…We’ve tried to make every element exceptional. It’s the little things that count and we have lots of those to surprise you.
We have fallen in love with the place, need to come about four times a year to recharge the batteries. Have re-booked for next year, that says it all Mary & David Barstow
Everything absolutely immaculate, not a grass blade of out place, the barn is quite fabulous Diane Balmforth
Wonderfully relaxing place to unwind offering the highest levels of service, comfort and hospitality. A unique place to stay that caters for any and every wish Ian Dawson, The Scottish Express
Our Threshing Barn is located in a peaceful little hamlet called Stockdalewath, close to the historic city of Carlisle. It has an idyllic setting with wonderful places to eat just a short drive away and is within easy reach of Hadrian's Wall and the spectacular lakes and fells of the English Lake District. There are great Walks from the door, plus Fishing, Horse riding, Shooting, Sailing and Cycling can all be enjoyed nearby.
We are Anna and Mark Aston and our children are Nathan, Archie and Connie. The Threshing Barn has been a labour of love for us, so it’s with pride that we invite you here. As a couple, we have lots of management and hospitality experience we could tell you about, but what we hope sets us apart is our attention to detail. We have tried to be thoughtful in every element of the accommodation we offer – from the sociable layout of our kitchen and our designer fabrics, to our gorgeous goose down quilts and locally-produced toiletries.
Our fondest memories are of the places where we have been truly taken care of and these are the kind of memories we want to create for our guests. We, along with our dedicated team, are here to make your stay at Beech House Holidays exceptional and we can’t wait to welcome you.
The Threshing Barn is a self contained property which is sold on an exclusive-use basis, so you have the whole property all to yourselves. It’s taken on a Self Catering basis but you can add meals to this as you like - allowing you lots of flexibility.
To take the property on a Self Catering basis costs £250 per night and it can sleep up to eight guests, plus will fit travel cots for infants in two rooms.
